'T Hemelrijk started 16 years ago as a bird shelter. However in present day, they grew out to an animal shelter.They mainly focus on wildlife animals, but someytimes domesticated animals come in too. In the time I worked on this project they were still only focussed on birds, which is what my designs reflect. The assignment was to create an new corporate design for them and this is the first project where I was really proud of my work.
For this project I had to make a corporate design for a bird shelter. Now I really struggled at the start of this project. Although I wasn’t new at designing, I had trouble finding my style and adjusting to a more refined design. This was the first design for the logo I came up with.
I did finish up a business card, but I was very unhappy with it. It didn’t resonate with me. The logo I created didn’t fit at all with what I wanted to go for, or the soft nature I needed to go for. Also the colors were to harsh for a bird shelter and didn’t match at all with there message.
So after a while of thinking and looking, I changed my design. This is the redesing I made for the logo. It is a lot softer, subtle and looks a lot better for the company that it is for.
I also changed the color use and the business card to start with. I still kept some of the original design, but aligned the colors with the new logo and placed the new logo on it.
In the end this became the corporate design I came up with. I'm still very proud of this design and my decission to change the design. That is why I feature it here.
